In the spirit of family and friends, here’s a funny video from Thanksgiving where Sven’s chucking pieces of tangerines into Em’s mouth from afar. He appears to be ‘in a zone’ on these 3 tries that I filmed. But the 5 previous tries were even funnier because the tangerines would bounce off of Em’s face and onto the floor.

dsc04637Some more tangerine-themed pictures. Mom made a tofu pie and Em sprinkled freshly peeled tangerines on top as a garnish. It was so delicious… a perfect light, chilled dessert after a heavy holiday meal!

Actually, what the farm, here’s the recipe. My mom just walked by so I asked her.

Start with some deep frozen pie crust. Bake it according to the directions on the sticker (hehe store bought pie crust works, don’t be snooty)

1. In 1 cup of boiling water, dissolve 3oz of lemon-flavored jello. Put aside and let it cool.

2. In a blender, mix a 1/2 block of tofu (half of a 19oz package of tofu). Stir occasionally and blend until smooth.

3. Add 1/2 a bucket of Cool Whip (half of an 8oz bucket) to the blender and blend some more.

dsc046364. Add the cooled jello mix to the tofu/coolwhip mix. Stir (don’t blend!) the concoction. Then pour it into the baked pie crust. Chill in the fridge for about an hour. When it’s about to become firm, you can stick little fruit garnishes, preferably strawberries or kiwis on top. Use chopsticks to place the fruits for a more authentic Asian experience. It is tofu after all.

and omg… it’s a tofu pie! enjoy.
